THE RING,
OF ENGAGEMENT!

"My soul married yours on this happy day. My loving heart is full of sweetness my soul mate. This union of our two lives is an intense joy. A joy of living and loving with an immense love."

A few imaginary lines to accompany a day full of romance, the engagement! Here is a tradition that is lost a little, although for some it remains an important step or at least symbolic in the construction of a life for two.

In these few lines, we talk about love, symbol, an act, a moment that should be a magical moment, a witness between 2 people that their love will accompany them, protect them and resist the hazards on their path of life, the engagement ring!

"I WISHED FOR NOTHING MORE THAN THIS ETERNAL ENGAGEMENT, OUR BODIES LYING BY THE FIREPLACE, TOUCHING EACH OTHER, AND ME, NOT DARING TO MOVE, LEST ONE MOVE OF MINE SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO DRIVE AWAY THE HAPPINESS."

HISTORY...

We are not going to make all the history of the engagement which goes back to the time of the Romans, but we will retain, that of this time, was born the tradition of the ring offered to the future bride who already carried it with the left annular. It was thought at that time that there was a direct link between this finger and the heart.

With the Middle Ages, the tradition evolves and the two fiancés exchange a ring mutually. It is towards the end of this era that the first precious jewels come to officialize the act of engagement. It seems that it was the Archduke Maximilian of Habsburg who first offered a diamond ring to Mary of Burgundy. He would have been inspired by Agnes Sorel, mistress of King Charles VII, who would have launched the fashion of jewels in precious stones.

SEN, OVER THE MONTHS

Our ring of the SEN collection, is composed of 12 diamonds which will be as many testimonies of a love which is perpetually renewed each month of the year.

... ETERNAL LOVE,
IN DIAMOND ...

1947, "Diamonds are forever". A slogan created by the De Beers company in order to boost its business! But let's go back a bit. De Beers is the name of a family of farmers who owned diamond land in South Africa. Very pious and anxious not to get caught up in the diamond fever that was going on in the region at the time, the family did not want to get into the diamond business and sold their land to Cecil Rhodes, the company's founder. A few years later, the supply of diamonds was such that the market collapsed and diamonds were sold at the price of colored stones. Cecil Rhodes, a fine strategist, set out to unify the various players and eventually created a monopoly. This is how De Beers came to directly or indirectly control up to 90% of the world's production and control the price of diamonds. After the Second World War, people were still cautious in their spending and it was at this precise moment that the company launched its famous slogan, which today is known by nearly 90% of Americans.

KIKU, THE LONER

Eternal testimony of love, the solitaire diamond is reinterpreted as a flower that blooms in the image of this love that unites two beings. The promise of unconditional love until the end of time.

IN CONCLUSION

An engagement ring is above all a promise. A promise to love, to share, to protect. It is a reflection, that of a love, of a relationship and it is this reflection that materializes through the choice of your jewel.

That's why there are no rules to follow when choosing a ring. Simply follow your feelings and keep in mind that it is not the ring that makes your love, but it is your love for each other that determines the ring. Like your couple, your partner, an engagement ring should be unique, personal and a testimony of a promise renewed every day.

At Ôkami, you also have the possibility to tell us your desires, your history and we will be happy to offer you a unique creation, a creation that looks like you and that makes sense to you!
