Created specifically to showcase unique Swiss craftsmanship, this pair of 18-karat gold earrings features a discreet setting that allows the 8mm pearl to shine in all its glory, delicately enhanced by three diamonds.
The pearl adorning this creation is crafted on the shores of Lake Geneva in Saint-Gingolph, Switzerland, using local craftsmanship that dates back more than a century. This activity enjoyed its heyday in the 1920s. Boaters flocked from all over Europe, and boats were specially chartered for those who had taken up residence on the Montreux Riviera. Queues formed in front of the shops despite the dozens of sales assistants who welcomed customers.
Still made by hand today, each pearl consists of an enamel core which is successively covered with mother-of-pearl by dipping it in a bath of "Essence d'Orient". This process requires precision and dexterity in order to achieve an exceptional result. The success and quality of Perles de Saint-Gingolph lie as much in the craftsmanship as in the "Essence d'Orient" formula, which has remained virtually unchanged since the last century.
It is this history and the audacity to revive this craftsmanship that inspired us to create jewelry that pays tribute to and highlights the work of all these people.
