Specially created to showcase unique Swiss craftsmanship, this pair of earrings in 18-carat gold features a discreet setting that leaves the 8mm pearl in its most beautiful expression, delicately enhanced by 3 diamonds.
The pearl that adorns this creation is made on the shores of Lake Geneva in Saint-Gingolph, Switzerland, following the century-old know-how of this local craft. In the '20s, this activity enjoyed its heyday. Boaters from all over Europe flocked to the area, and boats were specially chartered for those who had taken up residence on the Montreux Riviera. Queues grew long in front of the stores, despite the dozens of saleswomen on hand to greet them.
Still made by hand today, each pearl consists of an enamel core that is successively covered with mother-of-pearl by soaking in a bath of "Essence d'Orient". A gesture that requires precision and dexterity to achieve exceptional results. The success and quality of Les Perles de Saint-Gingolph lie as much in the craftsmanship as in the "Essence d'Orient" formula, which has remained virtually unchanged since the last century.
It's this history and the audacity of reviving this know-how that gave us the desire to create jewelry that pays tribute to and highlights the work of all these people.
